monarchs
Kings and queens
Monarchs is the plural of monarch, a sovereign ruler such as a king, queen, or emperor who typically inherits the position.
The word extends to anyone who dominates a field: the monarchs of Silicon Valley.
A monarch is also a large orange-and-black butterfly known for migrating thousands of miles: We watched monarchs pass through on their way to Mexico.
