rajas
Passion-driving quality
Rajas is one of three gunas (fundamental qualities) in Hindu and yogic philosophy, representing activity, passion, and restless energy.
Where sattva is calm clarity and tamas is inertia, rajas drives ambition, desire, and movement—necessary for action but associated with agitation when imbalanced: Too much rajas makes meditation difficult.
The term appears frequently in discussions of Ayurveda and yoga.
