limited monarchy
Bounded royal rule
A limited monarchy is a system of government where a monarch serves as head of state but exercises power within constraints set by a constitution, parliament, or other legal framework.
The monarch's authority is checked rather than absolute: Britain is a limited monarchy where the king reigns but Parliament governs.
Also called constitutional monarchy.
