grayout
Partial loss, consciousness
A grayout is a partial loss of vision or consciousness, less severe than a blackout.
Pilots experience grayouts under high G-forces as blood drains from the head—vision dims and narrows before full blackout occurs.
In interface design, grayed-out elements appear faded to indicate they're temporarily unavailable: The save button was grayed out until I made changes.
