gravity wave

Cosmic fabric disturbance

A gravity wave is a wave in a fluid medium where gravity acts as the restoring force—ocean waves are the most familiar example.

In physics, the term is sometimes used interchangeably with gravitational wave, though purists distinguish them: gravitational waves are ripples in spacetime itself, predicted by Einstein and first detected in 2015, while gravity waves are ordinary fluid dynamics.
