biological system
Body's working parts
A biological system is any group of organs, cells, or molecules that work together to perform a function in a living organism.
The digestive system breaks down food; the nervous system transmits signals; the immune system fights infection.
The term also applies at different scales—an ecosystem is a biological system, as is a single cell with its interacting components.
The drug affects multiple biological systems simultaneously.
