domains

Spheres of control

Domains are areas of territory, knowledge, or activity over which someone or something has control or influence: the king's domain, the domain of physics, that's outside my domain of expertise.

In computing, a domain is a distinct subset of the internet identified by a common address suffix: .com, .org, .edu.

The word often implies ownership or sovereignty—a domain is yours to govern.
