gene expression
DNA becoming protein
Gene expression is the process by which information encoded in a gene is used to produce a functional product, typically a protein.
Genes are expressed when they're "turned on"—transcribed into RNA and often translated into proteins that carry out cellular functions.
Different cells express different genes, which is why a liver cell behaves differently from a neuron despite containing identical DNA.
The drug works by blocking gene expression in cancer cells.
