hormones
Body's chemical messengers
Hormones is the plural of hormone—chemical messengers produced by glands and transported through the bloodstream to regulate body functions like growth, metabolism, and reproduction.
When someone blames behavior on hormones, they usually mean the volatile emotions of puberty or menstruation: She's sixteen—it's just hormones.
To say someone is hormonal is to suggest they're being irrational or emotional.
