Serapeum
Greco-Egyptian worship site
A Serapeum is a temple dedicated to the Greco-Egyptian god Serapis, a deity combining aspects of Osiris and Apis with Greek elements.
The most famous is the Serapeum of Alexandria, which housed part of the great library.
The Serapeum at Saqqara contains the burial chambers of sacred Apis bulls.
Archaeologists continue to excavate the Serapeum complex.
