Pantheon

Ancient Roman temple

The Pantheon is an ancient Roman temple built around 125 CE, famous for its massive domed roof and central opening to the sky.

It remains one of the best-preserved buildings from antiquity and has inspired countless neoclassical structures.

The name also applies to similar monuments housing tombs of notable figures, such as the Panthéon in Paris. (Lowercase pantheon is a collection of gods or celebrated figures.)
