Imhotep
Ancient Egyptian polymath
Imhotep was an Egyptian polymath of the 27th century BCE—architect, physician, and advisor to Pharaoh Djoser.
He designed the Step Pyramid at Saqqara, considered the first monumental stone structure in history.
Later Egyptians deified him as a god of medicine and wisdom.
His name surfaces in discussions of ancient engineering and in popular culture, notably as the resurrected villain in *The Mummy* films.
