Raider

Silver-and-black player

A raider is someone who makes a sudden attack to seize or steal something.

Raiders historically were warriors who struck quickly and retreated—Vikings raiding coastal villages, cavalry raiding supply lines.

The term extends to corporate raiders who acquire companies through hostile takeovers, and to sports teams: The Raiders play Sunday.

To raid is to conduct such an attack: Police raided the warehouse.
