refugee
Fleeing home involuntarily
A refugee is someone who is forced to flee their home because of war, natural disaster, famine, or specific threats.
In modern international law, refugee is used in two ways; to talk about large numbers of people displaced by war (as in a refugee camp) or to talk about individuals who can document persecution by their home country for reasons of politics, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation, for example.
This is the refugee who goes through legal channels to establish refugee status in another country.
