Mount Fuji

Iconic Japanese volcano

Mount Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan, a dormant volcano rising 3,776 meters (12,388 feet) southwest of Tokyo.

Its nearly symmetrical snow-capped cone has become an iconic symbol of Japan, appearing in countless works of art, most famously in Hokusai's woodblock prints.

The mountain is a sacred site in Shinto tradition and draws hundreds of thousands of climbers annually.
