Forbidden City
Imperial Chinese compound
The Forbidden City is the imperial palace complex in Beijing, China, home to emperors from 1420 to 1912.
The name reflects that ordinary citizens were barred from entering without permission.
Now a museum, it remains one of the world's largest and best-preserved palace complexes.
We spent a full day exploring the Forbidden City.
