Uluru

Outback sandstone landmark

Uluru is a massive sandstone rock formation in central Australia, sacred to the Anangu Aboriginal people who have inhabited the region for tens of thousands of years.

Rising dramatically from the flat desert landscape of the Northern Territory, it stands about 350 meters high and changes color throughout the day, appearing deep red at sunrise and sunset.

Also known by its colonial name Ayers Rock, Uluru became a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of Australia's most recognizable natural landmarks.
