Lenin

October Revolution leader

Lenin refers to Vladimir Lenin (1870–1924), the Russian revolutionary and political theorist who led the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 and became the first leader of the Soviet Union.

His ideas, called Leninism, adapted Marxist theory to emphasize a vanguard party leading the working class to revolution.

Lenin remains a towering figure in communist history, and his embalmed body is still displayed in Moscow's Red Square.

The protesters toppled the statue of Lenin.
