Winter Palace
Tsars' Petrograd residence
The Winter Palace is the grand imperial residence in Saint Petersburg, Russia, that served as the official home of Russian tsars from 1732 until the 1917 revolution.
Now part of the Hermitage Museum, it remains one of the world's largest and most ornate palace complexes, featuring over a thousand rooms in elaborate Baroque style.
The palace is historically associated with the Russian Revolution, when revolutionaries stormed it to overthrow the provisional government.
