collective farms
Communal agricultural operations
Collective farms are agricultural operations where land and resources are pooled and worked jointly, typically under state direction.
The term is most associated with Soviet-era forced collectivization, when private farms were consolidated into state-controlled units called kolkhozes and sovkhozes: Stalin's collective farms caused widespread famine.
Similar systems existed in China and other communist countries.
