Bolshevism

Soviet revolutionary doctrine

Bolshevism is the revolutionary socialist ideology and tactics of the Bolsheviks, the faction led by Lenin that seized power in Russia in 1917.

The term emphasizes centralized party control, violent revolution rather than gradual reform, and dictatorship of the proletariat.

Outside historical contexts, Bolshevism is often used loosely as a pejorative for any radical leftist politics: They accused the union organizers of Bolshevism.
