Red Crescent
Muslim humanitarian organization
Red Crescent is the emblem and name used by humanitarian organizations in Muslim-majority countries, equivalent to the Red Cross.
The crescent replaced the cross to avoid religious associations.
National Red Crescent societies provide disaster relief, medical services, and humanitarian aid under the same international framework as Red Cross organizations: The Red Crescent set up field hospitals after the earthquake.
