Crimean Khanate

Ottoman vassal realm

The Crimean Khanate was a Tatar state on the Crimean Peninsula that lasted from 1441 to 1783, when Russia annexed it.

A successor to the Mongol Golden Horde, the khanate was long a vassal of the Ottoman Empire and a major player in the slave trade, raiding Eastern European settlements for captives.

The Crimean Khanate supplied Constantinople with slaves for centuries.
