horde
Overwhelming human wave
A horde is a large, loosely organized group, typically one that moves together: Hordes of tourists descended on the city.
The word carries connotations of chaos, aggression, or overwhelming numbers—barbarian hordes, zombie hordes.
Historically it referred to nomadic warrior groups of Central Asia.
Often confused with hoard, which means a stockpile.
