Sevastopol

Black Sea harbor

Sevastopol is a port city on the Crimean Peninsula, historically significant as a naval base.

It was the site of major sieges during the Crimean War (1854–1855) and World War II.

Administered by Ukraine after Soviet dissolution, Russia annexed it along with Crimea in 2014—an action most countries consider illegal.

Also spelled Sebastopol.
