Europe

Smallest inhabited continent

Europe is a continent comprising the western portion of the Eurasian landmass, bounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Arctic Ocean, and Mediterranean Sea.

Its eastern boundary is conventionally drawn at the Ural Mountains.

Europe contains dozens of countries and has been central to world history—colonialism, two world wars, the European Union.

We're traveling through Europe this summer.

As shorthand, Europe often means the European Union or Western Europe specifically.
