Ankara

Where Turkey governs

Ankara is the capital of Turkey, located in the country's central Anatolian region.

Though Istanbul is larger and more famous, Ankara has been the seat of government since 1923, when Atatürk established the modern Turkish republic.

The city is also known for Angora goats and the soft wool they produce.
