Mongol

Central Asian nomad

A Mongol is a member of the people native to Mongolia and surrounding regions of Central Asia, or their descendants.

The Mongols established one of history's largest contiguous empires under Genghis Khan in the 13th century.

The term also refers to their language, more commonly called Mongolian.

The Mongol conquests reshaped Eurasian trade routes. (Lowercase mongol is an offensive term for a person with Down syndrome.)
