white nationalism
Ethnic supremacist ideology
White nationalism is the ideology that white people constitute a distinct nation and should have their own separate homeland or state.
Unlike white supremacy, which emphasizes racial hierarchy, white nationalism focuses on racial separatism and preserving white demographic majorities.
The term gained prominence in the late 20th century as adherents sought more respectable-sounding language than older racist terminology.
White nationalist groups organized the rally.
