anti-miscegenation
Interracial marriage ban
Anti-miscegenation describes laws, attitudes, or policies that prohibit marriage or sexual relations between people of different races.
Such laws were common in the United States until the Supreme Court struck them down in 1967: Virginia's anti-miscegenation statute banned interracial marriage.
The term now appears mainly in historical and legal contexts.
