ethno-state

Homogeneous national territory

An ethno-state is a nation defined by and reserved for a single ethnic or racial group—a country where citizenship and belonging are tied to ancestry rather than birthplace or naturalization.

The term appears most often in discussions of white nationalist ideology, where it names the goal of creating racially homogeneous territories: They openly advocate for a white ethno-state.

Critics use it to describe existing nations with exclusionary policies based on ethnicity.
