A stan is an extremely devoted fan, often to the point of obsession.
The term originated from Eminem's 2000 song about a fan whose obsession turns deadly.
To stan is to support someone or something with intense, unwavering enthusiasm: I stan her so hard, We stan a queen who speaks her mind.
The word walks a line between genuine admiration and self-aware irony about excessive fandom. (Capitalized Stan is a given name.)
