jargon

Trade-specific language

Jargon is specialized vocabulary used within a particular profession, group, or field—language that insiders understand but outsiders find opaque or confusing: medical jargon, legal jargon, tech jargon.

The word usually carries a negative connotation, implying unnecessarily obscure language that excludes or impresses rather than communicates: Cut the jargon and tell me what's wrong with my car.
