fanfiction
Unauthorized sequel writing
Fanfiction is fiction written by fans using characters, settings, or worlds from existing stories—novels, films, TV shows, video games.
It ranges from short scenarios to novel-length works, often exploring relationships or plotlines the original didn't pursue: She writes Harry Potter fanfiction where Draco is the hero.
The genre thrives online in dedicated communities.
Also spelled fan fiction or shortened to fanfic.
