casual fan
Not deeply invested
A casual fan follows something—a sport, band, show, or franchise—with mild interest rather than deep investment.
Unlike devoted fans who know every detail, casual fans enjoy the thing without making it central to their identity: I'm just a casual fan; I watch the playoffs but not the regular season.
The term often carries slight dismissiveness from more committed enthusiasts.
