sea kayak
Saltwater paddling craft
A sea kayak is a kayak designed for open water—oceans, lakes, and large rivers rather than whitewater rapids.
Sea kayaks are longer and narrower than recreational kayaks, with enclosed cockpits and storage compartments for gear on extended trips.
They track straighter and handle waves and wind better than shorter designs: We paddled our sea kayaks along the coastline.
