life jacket
Buoyant safety garment
A life jacket is a sleeveless flotation device worn to keep a person buoyant in water.
Standard safety equipment on boats and aircraft, life jackets are typically bright orange or yellow for visibility during rescue.
Make sure everyone has a life jacket before we leave the dock.
Also called a life vest.
