record player
Needle-and-groove device
A record player is a device that plays vinyl records by spinning the disc while a needle traces the grooves, converting the physical pattern into sound.
Also called a turntable or phonograph.
Once standard home audio equipment, record players declined with cassettes and CDs but have seen revival among audiophiles and collectors: She put on a record player and dropped the needle.
