monaural

Not stereo sound

Monaural describes sound reproduced through a single audio channel, as opposed to stereo's two channels.

A monaural recording plays identically through all speakers, with no spatial separation between instruments or voices.

The term appears in audio equipment specifications and discussions of recording technology: The original monaural mix was later remastered in stereo.

Often shortened to mono.
