player
One who competes
A player is someone who plays—a game, a sport, a musical instrument.
The word extends to participants in any arena: a major player in local politics, all the players in the deal.
In dating slang, a player pursues multiple romantic or sexual partners simultaneously, often through charm and deception: Don't fall for him—he's a player.
A media player is software or hardware that plays audio or video files.
