moving image
Cinema's basic element
A moving image is a visual recording that creates the illusion of motion through a sequence of frames—film, video, animation, or digital media.
The term encompasses movies, television, online video, and any visual content that moves rather than remaining static like a photograph.
It often appears in archival and academic contexts: the Library of Congress moving image collection, moving image studies.
