miter joint

Frame corner technique

A miter joint is a corner joint formed by cutting two pieces at matching angles—typically 45 degrees each—so they meet to form a 90-degree corner.

Common in picture frames, molding, and trim work: The carpenter cut miter joints for the crown molding.

The angled cuts create a clean corner that hides end grain.
