door frame
Portal's structural border
A door frame is the structure that surrounds a door and holds it in place—the vertical posts on either side (jambs) and the horizontal piece across the top.
The frame attaches to the wall and provides the surface where hinges mount and the latch catches: The door frame was splintered where someone had kicked it in.
