tongue and groove

Snug plank connection

Tongue and groove is a method of joining boards where one edge has a projecting ridge (the tongue) that fits into a corresponding channel (the groove) on the adjacent board.

The interlocking design creates tight, flush surfaces for flooring, paneling, and other woodwork: tongue-and-groove hardwood floors, tongue-and-groove cedar siding.
