Bundesrat

Swiss federal council

The Bundesrat is the upper house of the legislature in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

In Germany, it represents the sixteen state governments rather than being directly elected, giving states a voice in federal legislation.

The term is German for "federal council." The Bundesrat rejected the proposed tax reform.
