loopback
Signal returns home
Loopback is a network connection that routes signals back to their source without reaching external systems.
It's used for testing and diagnostics—a loopback address lets a computer send data to itself: I pinged the loopback to check if the network stack was working.
The term extends to any signal path that returns to its origin: a loopback test, a loopback cable.
