ghost
Haunting pale presence
A ghost is an immaterial being thought to be the unhappy or tormented remnant of a dead human.
Before another noun, ghost indicates something vestigial (ghost town), or pertaining to ghosts (ghost stories, ghost hunters).
To ghost someone, in modern slang, is to abruptly stop communicating with them.
If you are a ghostwriter, you write for someone who takes the author credit; in other words, you ghost for them.
