hip thrust

Pelvis lifting movement

A hip thrust is a strength exercise targeting the glutes, performed by sitting on the ground with the upper back against a bench, then driving the hips upward while supporting a weight across the pelvis.

The movement isolates the gluteal muscles more effectively than squats.

Outside the gym, hip thrust describes any forceful forward motion of the pelvis—whether in dance, sports, or sexual contexts.
