gluteus minimus

Hip's smallest stabilizer

The gluteus minimus is the smallest of the three gluteal muscles, located deep beneath the gluteus medius in the buttock.

It works with its larger partners to stabilize the hip and rotate the thigh.

Together, the gluteus minimus, medius, and maximus form what's colloquially called the glutes.
