blackballing
Voting someone out
Blackballing is the act of excluding someone from a group or organization by secret ballot, traditionally by placing a black ball in a voting box.
The term now applies broadly to any deliberate exclusion or rejection: She was blackballed from the sorority, After the scandal, he was blackballed from the industry.
The practice suggests collective shunning rather than individual rejection.
